I've owned several "tactical" jackets since they became popular about a decade ago. This is the first one I've owned that actually works as I imagined it. Other brands' softshell tactical jackets tend to be too thin to be used as a winter parka unless augmented with a hoodie underneath and even that can be brutal in Midwest winters. This thing is very warm, thicker and has a little heavier duty outer materiel to help block out the wind. The drawback to this is it's a little noisier, but that's a fair compromise in my humble opinion.
One thing I hate about the other brands' 'tactical' jackets in this style is all of the unnecessary pockets everywhere. While the M65 does have way too many, the zippers are hidden behind material unlike the others who are all on display like a teen desperate for attention.
I definitely don't agree with another review who was critical of the finish being too shiny - mine is perfectly matte and is indistinguishable from Crye's Multicam Black.
Great jacket. Will update if my opinion changes. I'm going to order the regular 'multicam' version as well for hunting.
I like it, but to shiney not very tactical. Would appreciate the regular camo coat
It’s okay so far. The zipper seems pretty “light duty”, but I haven’t had it long enough to know how well it will hold up.
